On Office Liquidator's 25th Anniversary

In 1985, I opened Office Liquidators in a small warehouse on West Evans Avenue in Denver, Colorado. The company had two employees and dealt exclusively with used office furniture. A few years later, we moved a couple of miles east on Evans Avenue into a building with nearly four times as much space for our showroom and warehouse. We expanded the business to include new office furniture and by 2001, our growth necessitated another move, into our current location at Sixth and Simms in Lakewood, Colorado.

This year, as we celebrate our 25th anniversary, you’ll still find us on Sixth Avenue in Lakewood, with more than 40 employees tending to 53,000 square feet of showroom and warehouse space. Currently ranked the sixth largest office furniture company in Colorado by the Denver Business Journal, we maintain the largest office furniture showroom in the state, our own fleet of trucks and the best team of installers you’ll find anywhere.

Over the years, our new office furniture business has thrived, and we are proud to be the largest showcase dealer of HON Office Furniture in Colorado. Other major lines include Basyx Office Furniture, National Office Furniture, DMI Office Furniture, La-Z-Boy Office Furniture, Mayline and Martin Office Furniture, as well as chairs, desks, file cabinets and bookcases from several other top manufacturers. Due to our factory direct purchasing power, we consistently sell new office furniture at discounts of 35% to 50% off regular retail prices. In addition, we specialize in handling factory closeouts, which feature discounts of 60% to 70% off regular retail prices.

To better serve the contract office furniture market, we formed Corporate Environments in 1998. The oldest Allsteel office furniture dealer in Colorado, Corporate Environments has emerged as a leading resource for top-of-the line brands such as Gunlocke, OFS, Humanscale, SitOnIt Seating, RFM Preferred Seating and many more. Plus, our full-service offerings include a professional design department, dedicated in-house project managers, an experienced installation team and full repair and refurbishing capabilities.

Alongside our successes in the new office furniture market, our used office furniture business has boomed, allowing us to regularly offer fellow Coloradans top quality used office furniture at a fraction of the new furniture cost. Our national purchasing efforts have reached into more than 30 states over the past 25 years, focusing on Fortune 500 companies, banks, dot.coms, telecoms and even one-time high-flying companies such as Enron and Stanford Financial. Most notably, in 2002, we acquired over 20 trailer loads of office furniture from the Winter Olympic organizers in Salt Lake City.

Over time, we’ve responded to our customers’ changing preferences, most recently adding online purchasing capabilities to buy new office furniture and supplies at OfficeLiquidators.com.

Additionally, we offer new office furniture, featuring HON Office Furniture, for sale in 48 states through our wholly owned subsidiary, PlanetOfficeFurniture.com.

Even with all of our success, we’ve been careful to remain an active community citizen, by offering to nonprofits additional discounts of up to 15% off our already discounted showroom prices on new and used office furniture, and up to 52% off regular retail prices on new HON factory orders. We serve as the corporate sponsor of The Ali Meyer Foundation http://www.alimeyer.org and host an annual golf tournament from which 100% of the proceeds are donated to The Children’s Hospital in Denver.
